Our client is a VC-funded start up that is well
funded. The company is looking for a hands-on mobile software expert to be
responsible for the company's handset architecture. This is an opportunity to
get in on the ground floor and make a significant contribution to the company's
technology offering.
Position Overview
The Lead Handset Architect position will play a key
role in defining the direction and scope of development for the handset
component of our client’s solution and will be responsible for:
· Defining the company’s
cross-platform handset architecture
· Working with focused development teams to implement the solution
· Mentoring the team and building internal mobile expertise, and
· Working with the server-side architects and product managers to ensure a cohesive end-to-end solution.

Experience in developing and commercializing mobile
systems and services is essential. The ability and desire to roll up your
sleeves and contribute directly is a must.
Requirements
· Advanced degree in
Computer Science or Computer Engineering
· 6-10 years experience in handset development, with mobile media player architecture experience
· Knowledge and experience in mobile network protocols and programming in 2G and 3G environments
· Symbian expertise required, BREW, Windows Mobile, and J2ME platform expertise desirable
· Deep programming experience on multi-threaded, resource-constrained devices
· Excellent architecture and design skills, including use of design patterns and UML
· Knowledge of industry standards and protocols relevant to the mobile space, including DVB-H, OMA, and XML
· Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
· Self-starter - Ability to take on multiple tasks and roles
